A "GREEN
" APPROACH TO
METER READING.
Approximately 3,500 Claywood Park PSD water customers will
get new water meters installed over the next several Months.
WHAT IS CHANGING?
In August 2008 the District Begain
installing a new (AMR) Automatic Meter Reading system.
WHAT IS AUTOMATIC METER
READING?
AMR technology uses a radio frequency
meter to gather and monitor data from your water meter. The
data is then collected by a mobile drive-by receiver.
WHY IS THE PSD CHANGING TO AMR?
-
This is exciting technology that allows
the District to read meters more efficiently with a high
degree of accuracy and an increased element of safety.
-
As a result of the new Automatic Meter Reading
system, the District will now be able to read all of its
3,500 water meters each and every month.
-
By reading water meters using the AMR system it will
allow the District to use one vehicle and one person to
read all 3,500 meters each month, where using the old
system it took three people eight days per month, as a
result saving wear on vehicles, fuel cost and freeing up
resources to be used else ware in the system.
WHAT WILL THIS MEAN TO ME?
-
If you are currently billed bi-monthly
(every other month) for water and sewer services. Beginning
the month following the installation of the new AMR meter at
your location, the District will begin billing your account
each month. By reading your meter every month this will
allow the District to find leaks or problems that affects
you the customer much sooner as well as making the task of
budgeting for your utilities easier.
-
If your billing cycle is already
monthly you will not experience any change what so ever.
WHEN WILL MY BILL BE DUE?
Meter readings are gathered on the 15th
day of each month ( + or – 5 day’s ). Bills will be mailed
on the first day of each month, and due in the office by the
20th of the month.
